Pegged out!

Today is a lovely sunny day with a slight breeze, so I grabbed this rare opportunity to take a picture of the coverlet so far -

I am very undecided whether or not it needs another border?  I feel it does, but for the life of me I can't find any fabric suitable, though I have auditioned quite a few.  But then I don't want it to end up too big, because it makes quilting a long and laborious task and borders take forever to do!  I know that because I am tussling with one at the moment!

I also feel that it needs a few bugs around the flowers in the baskets and on the large side ones,  so I am searching my fabrics for suitable bits to attach, but no success so far!

I can visualize an appliqued vine and flowers border on it but that might be taking it too far!

It is BEAUTIFUL!
And I don't think it needs another border :-)

Such a lovely quilt. I don't think it needs a thing.

Maybe some embroidered bees or dragon flies?

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions, some of which came by email and don't appear here. Most were excellent but for various reasons have been rejected because either I haven't enough fabric or they were beyond my capabilities! However, since posting I have found a delightful Liberty Lawn fabric which I think might do for a border, so watch this space, it's not over yet!

This is a stunningly beautiful quilt. Please don't over think it and add more than it needs.

Just discovered this blog, read through all the posts, all I can say is WOW! This is a stunningly fabulous quilt. Whether or not you add another border it is just yummy. Please do a book. You can count on another buyer for it - so please post information here on your blog where I will be keeping watch.

Thank you for sharing your design process. I have learned so much.

Thank you for your uplifting comment. The coverlet is still languishing while I am finishing others and preparing samples for a workshop.

Do keep watching this space as there will be news eventually!

OMG, dear Mary, this is such a special quilt, and I'm SO happy I found your blog, 2 days ago!
Since then, I just can't help but coming back and admire your works, your choice of fabrics and the beautiful colors.
This is really a work of heart and I wish to thank you so much for the inspiration...

The story around this quilt is fascinating, too, and I'm now crossing my fingers (and toes!) that, someday, you might publish a book pattern about your own version of the quilt. That would be fantastic !

With gratefulthreads from my little corner (Belgium)

XOXOXO
NADINE

Thank you Nadine, what lovely things you have said about the quilt.

At the moment I'm waiting for Electric Quilt for Mac to become available which I believe is imminent, then I will be able to draft the patterns. I might then publish them?
